Product Overview

The PX65 is the wide-format model in the PX series, with a 6-inch (approximately 152 mm) print width. The difference from a 4-inch machine is not only the width: it is how much content fits on one label.

What the extra 44 mm buys

From 108 mm to 152 mm, the extra width supports multi-column layouts: two or three copies of the same barcode on one label for multiple application points, or name, specification, batch and 2D code spread out instead of compressed until illegible.

Speed runs 100 to 225 mm/s, a little slower than the 4-inch model, which is the physical cost of width. Resolution is 203 or 300 dpi.

Hardware

Same platform as the PX45: dual-core 1 GHz, 256 MB memory plus 512 MB flash, 3.5-inch colour screen, all-metal body. Media rolls up to 213 mm OD and ribbon up to 450 m, so wide-format roll changes do not come too often.

Interfaces include USB 2.0 host and device, 10/100 Ethernet, RS-232, parallel IEEE1284 and industrial 8-channel digital I/O. Wi-Fi is standard and Bluetooth is optional. RFID is supported.

Recalculate the consumables

A wide machine cannot reuse 4-inch stock. The printer accepts ribbon from 51 to 110 mm, but ribbon must be wider than the label, so a 152 mm label needs wider ribbon. This is the detail buyers most often miss.

Label stock works the same way. Wide labels cost more per unit, and layout efficiency drives the real cost. One label at 152 mm or two at 108 mm, which is cheaper, depends on the actual layout rather than assumption.

Where it fits

Chemical drum labels, large equipment nameplates, pallet and container markings, multi-column production routing cards. In each case the information or the area is too large for a 4-inch machine, and shrinking the type hurts readability.

The fastest way to settle selection is to send us the actual label content. We lay it out, print it once at 152 mm and once at 108 mm, and compare what the width actually saved before recommending the wider machine.
